Most visiting pilots fly one valley. Slovenia has nine.

Slovenia is one of the most varied flying countries in Europe – Julian Alps, the Soča and Vipava valleys, the Kamnik Alps and the Savinja Valley are all within two hours of each other. The trick is knowing which one works today.

Flying on your own

  • You pick a site from a forum post and hope the wind is right
  • You hitchhike back after an XC flight – or don’t go XC at all
  • Airspace, NOTAMs and landing rules are guesswork
  • Bad forecast in your valley means a lost day

Flying with Perut

  • The best launch in the country for today’s forecast, chosen every morning
  • Land wherever your flight ends – we come and get you
  • Briefing on airspace, task and landing options before every flight
  • If one region is off, we drive to the one that’s on

Where we fly

We fly all over Slovenia and choose the site every day. These are the launches we use most, from our base in Celje.

Your guide: Luka Felicijan

Luka runs Perut Paragliding, a modern paragliding school and guiding service in Slovenia. He has flown close to 2,000 flights across Slovenia, flies XC on an EN-D wing and spent last winter flying commercial tandems in Tenerife. As the official Skywalk importer for Slovenia he knows the newest gear inside out.

He guides the way he teaches: clear briefings, honest calls on the weather and no pressure to launch when it isn’t right.

Paragliding in Slovenia: questions pilots ask

Do I need a licence to fly with you?

For guided days, XC weeks, the XC clinic and hike and fly you need a valid paragliding licence (IPPI 4 recommended, IPPI 5 for the XC week) and your own certified gear. If you have never flown, book the intro day or the private learn-to-fly course – all gear is included.

Can I fly in Slovenia with my foreign licence?

Yes. Pilots with a valid national licence and an IPPI card (stage 4, stage 5 for XC) can fly in Slovenia. We check your documents before the first flight and brief you on local rules, airspace and radio frequencies.

What insurance do I need?

The Slovenian Civil Aviation Agency strongly recommends third-party liability insurance, and we require it for all guided flying. Accident, rescue and repatriation cover is highly recommended too, for example through your national federation.

When is the best time to paraglide in Slovenia?

April to June is the best XC season, with strong thermals and high cloudbases. July and August are great for alpine flying and hike and fly. September and October bring smooth, scenic flying. Lijak keeps working on many winter days.

What is the private guide day?

A full flying day with a guide who works only for you: forecast analysis, the best site in the country for your level, transport in our van, radio coaching in the air and a retrieve wherever you land. A friend can join for €110.

What happens if the weather is bad?

You only pay for guided days we actually fly. On the XC week, unflyable days are credited to another day or a future trip. Because we can choose between nine flying areas, we lose far fewer days than a guide who works in one valley.

Where do we meet?

Our base is Celje in central Slovenia, about an hour from Ljubljana airport. For weeks and private days we pick you up at your accommodation, or we meet at the site.

Can you book accommodation and airport transfers?

Yes. For XC weeks and group trips we book vetted guesthouses and arrange transfers from Ljubljana, Venice, Trieste or Graz airports.

Can I rent a paraglider in Slovenia?

Licensed pilots can rent current Skywalk wings and harnesses on request. We are the official Skywalk importer for Slovenia.

Can our club bring its own instructor?

Foreign flight instructors need special authorisation from the Slovenian Civil Aviation Agency to teach in Slovenia. Perut Paragliding is a licensed Slovenian school, so your group flies legally under a local instructor and guide.

Do you only run fixed-date weeks?

No. Most operators sell fixed weeks. We guide on your dates – a single day, a long weekend or a full week – and adapt the plan to the forecast.

Which languages do you speak?

English and Slovenian, plus basic German and Croatian.
